Peter joined the company in 1965 after studying Economics and Accountancy at Leeds University. The company was very small then but developed rapidly with the growth of Cash and Carry wholesaling and later SPAR which was the engine for further growth as Convenience retailing was established. He has been Chairman of Landmark Cash Group and SPAR Food Distributors as well as serving on the International SPAR Board. He is currently Chairman of A.F. Blakemore an Son Ltd. 

He was born in and lives near Wolverhampton and is married with 4 children and 5 grandchildren.
